Grandpa’s Treasured Tales: Memories To Cherish Forever

This summer I decided I wanted to share some memories with my Grandchildren that they could keep forever. One of the greatest treasures grandparents have is the ability to share some of their wisdom with their grandkids. I take this seriously; our first road trip was Father's Day weekend.

I figured a good place to start was a visit to Lake Erie for some swimming and a chance to enjoy things I did as a kid. One of the stops we made was to visit a little town outside of Norwalk, Ohio. It was called Milan, Ohio and we visited the birthplace of the inventor Thomas Edison. The grandkids were surprised that the home was still standing after all these years. Even though it was a small home, the kids enjoyed seeing someone famous actually living residence.

As we visited Huron, Ohio to take them swimming I took them to the Lighthouse that sits here. Unfortunately, you can no longer visit it like I did when I was young. It’s a shame as wanted to get pictures of them in front of it. I guess some things changed and are not etched in time.

Along the way, we stopped and I shared many places I visited and the fun it brought me in my younger years. They were amazed at these small towns and what they had to offer. During the trip, they keep asking to see more. Always remember memories should be shared before it’s too late so someone else can enjoy them as well.
